„Poland is an exceptional example of good cooperation for the defense and security of Poland, Europe, and the United States. As a country, Poland spends the most on defence relative to its capabilities in NATO; that is a signal showing the world that the issue of security and cooperation with the USA and Europe is not an abstraction. It is our security. We have been demonstrating for years that we are a loyal and stable ally, and regardless of political turbulence, Poland will be a country that respects all agreements. Investment in Poland’s security means not only the security of Poland but also that of our allies. And this solidarity should also serve as a signal to others.” – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the ceremony in Sochaczew.
The contract with the USA concerns the delivery of logistical support for the Patriot system in the Armed Forces and will include elements of technical support and training. The execution of the contract will enable the operational readiness of the PATRIOT launchers, which are the backbone of the Wisła programme. Poland is the second country in the world, after the USA, to possess the most modern PATRIOT systems equipped with the IBCS net-centric battle-command suite.
„On both sides of the Atlantic, friends work and earn their living. There is no conflict of interest in fundamental matters between allies. Let the Polish stance be an example for other allies. Our goal is the defense of Western civilization. War has made all of us aware of how real the risks associated with a new global rivalry are. Now is the time for consolidation and cooperation; it is not a time for rivalry among allies.” – added Tusk.
„Another important stage in the implementation of the second phase of the Wisła programme. A year ago, we signed a contract for the brain of the system, namely the IBCS. Initial operational readiness was announced in the 37th Air Defence Squadron. Today we have another contract. Expenditures on air defence are an expensive process. Attacks, on the other hand, are up to 10 times cheaper. But we must invest in our security, including air security. This agreement is valued at approximately 2 billion dollars. It includes the provision of logistical elements and, among other things, trainers that will allow our soldiers to be trained in operating the Patriot systems.” – said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
„We have provided enormous assistance to Ukraine, which is in our vital interest. The more the Russian army is worn out by the war, the more time we have in Europe to increase security. We, as Poland, are pioneers in raising our own security. We will not break contracts with the Americans; today we are signing another contract, contrary to some claims.” – added the Deputy Prime Minister.
„Thanks to Poland’s foresight and the partnership between Poland and the USA, Poland will receive the most modern air defence system in the world. Poland was the first country in the world to engage in cooperation with the USA regarding new radars for the Patriot systems. In December, Poland became the first country in the world to achieve initial operational readiness of the IBCS system. The USA will continue to support Poland’s security in the future. Poland was also the first country to be visited by the USA’s Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth. This is an important signal.” – Daniel Lewton, Chargé d’affaires USA in Poland.
