20 thousand examples of VIS 100 9 mm pistols will soon become a part of the inventory of the Polish military. Agreement concerning the acquisition of this weapon has been signed on 4th December this year, while deliveries are planned to begin as of 2019 - announced Mariusz Błaszczak, the head of the Polish Ministry of Defence, during a conference organized on 5th December at the 1st Airlift Base in Warsaw. The purpose of the meeting was to summarize 3 years of work undertaken by the leadership of the MoD and of the Polish Armed Forces.

According to the MoD, thanks to a new contract it is going to be possible to gradually unify the personal firearms the soldiers use, along with simultaneous withdrawal of the obsolete 9 mm Makarov handguns.

It was yesterday when we have signed an agreement with the Łucznik Radom Arms Factory, concerning delivery of 20 thousand Ragun pistols for the Territorial Defence Forces. To commemorate this special year I’ve made a decision to name the gun VIS 100, making a reference to our proud, pre-war heritage – said Minister Błaszczak, when announcing the decision on delivery of the new gun at the 1st Airlift Base in Warsaw. Furthermore, the head of the MoD presented a symbolic name change certificate to the commander of the Territorial Defence Force commander.

Deliveries of the weapon are to begin in late 2019, while the last lots would be delivered by the military in 2022.

According to the information provided to us by the MoD, the Territorial Defence component, as a whole, will be involved in training with the use of the new gun. However, only the commanding officers and selected soldiers would have it issued to them.

VIS 100 pistol is a new gun manufactured at the Łucznik Radom Arms Factory. The name refers to the wz. 35 Vis pistol that was being manufactured in Radom between 1936 and 1939. The number “100” refers to introduction of the weapon on the Centenary of the Polish independence. The pistol is a result of PR-RAGUN development work started back in 2013. It constitutes an element of the Tytan combat ensemble.

Head of the MoD also stressed that formation of the Territorial Defence Component of the military remains one of the priorities for the Ministry.
