Norwegian minister highlighted on the other hand, that both countries aim to expand the cooperation as Poland plays an important defence and deterrence role and bears a huge responsibility in supporting Ukraine. Łask is a home to a Polish F-16 fighter aircraft airbase, while since several weeks Norwegian F-35s have also been stationed there to boost NATO Air and Missile Defence system. To that end, a Norwegian NASAMS system is also stationed in Rzeszów, Poland, where in cooperation with German Patriot systems it provides a protection for a major logistic hub for the support of Ukraine.

„Strengthening the security of NATO’s eastern flank, bilateral cooperation, and building interoperability between Polish and Norwegian air forces were the main topics of discussions during the first visit to Poland by Norway’s new Minister of Defense, Tore Sandvik. We thanked the pilots for their joint mission in our country. Together with our allies, we are building an effective deterrence and defense system,” Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X.
