Five entities expressed their will to participate in the technical dialogue procedure pertaining to the Road Reconnaissance Robot (“Robot Rozpoznania Dróg (RRD)”) procurement task, spokesman for the Armament Inspectorate of the Polish MoD told us.

The programme is aimed at procuring a large bomb disposal/engineering robot weighing up to 5 tonnes. The robot is to be capable of carrying out reconnaissance on the roads and of executing hazardous engineering tasks. The system is expected to recognize, detect and designate the detected hazardous materials and then send info on their location to the operator’s console.

The robot is also to be able to provide road clearance and carry electronic warfare assets. Furthermore, the platform should also be capable of moving and removing objects of all sorts, with the use of proper tools attached via a quick-connection system. The above refers to the removal of fallen trees, or concrete elements, or picking-up and moving SVBIEDs or removing hazardous materials from vehicles. The sensor package needs to include high-resolution optical systems, as well as an audio system.

Hence, it could be said that the procurement pertains to a remote control engineering vehicle fitted with high payload capacity manipulator or manipulators.

The following entities submitted their requests to participate in the technical dialogue:

  1. Łukasiewicz Research Network – Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements
  2. OBRUM Sp. z o.o.
  3. Mildat Sp. z o.o.
  4. IBCOL Sp. z o.o.
  5. Hydromega Sp. z o.o.
